Greensboro, NC -- Dr. Noah Rogers, principal of Ben L. Smith High School has resigned, according to a news release from Guilford County Schools.

Rogers' resignation goes into effect Monday, April 8. He's served as Smith's principal since Feb. 15, 2006.

The school system did not give a reason for his resignation.

Anitra Walker, executive director of the Central Region and former principal of Northeast High School, will serve as Smith High's interim principal.

Walker has also served as an assistant principal, human resources coordinator, and career and technical education teacher.

She'll be at Smith for the remainder of this school year while the district conducts its search for a full-time principal.

Tony Watlington, strategic planning officer and former executive director of the Central Region, will take over Walker's responsibilities until she returns to the position.
