Greensboro, NC -- The Guilford County Sheriff's office is asking for help in locating two men who escaped from the Guilford County Detention Center in High Point.
Investigators say the two men escaped the jail by breaking a window in their cell, tying bed sheets together to use as a rope, and then dropping to the ground.
"This is the first escape such as this in approximately 18 years," says Sheriff BJ Barnes. "We have excellent assistance from the High Point Police Department and we have additional staff held over to check all possibilities in locating the two suspects."
Sheriff's deputies are looking for Jose Alberto Hernandez-Hernandez, who is 35 years old . He's 5'6'' tall and about 130 pounds. Hernandez-Hernandez was being held at the jail on charges of: 1st Degree Sex Offense with a Child, six counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child. He was being held on a $600,000 bond.
The second suspect deputies are looking for is Jose Idel Sid. Sid may also be using the name Jose Joaquin-Del Sid Sosa. Sid is 36 years old. He's 5'5'' tall and weighs about 145 pounds. Sid has a tattoo on his right arm that says "AMOR". Sid was being held at the jail on charges of Immigration Detainer with no bond issues.
Sheriff Barnes says the two men shared a cell and were planning their escape for several weeks.
Both men had last known addresses in the High Point area.
The Guilford County Sheriff's office is asking anyone with information on the two escaped men to contact the Guilford County Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.
