GREENSBORO, NC -- Fourth grade students at Lindley Elementary are in the running for $10,000.
Led by teacher Lori Attias, the 4th graders are part of the "Energy WISE" team for the school. That means learn about energy saving and recycling.
Recently, the students made a video discussing the importance of trees throughout history and the use of trees today.
They submitted the video to the Scotties TREE ROCK! video contest and were named among the top 12 finalists.
The Grand Prize winner will receive $10,000 for their school to use towards a sustainable project.
Attias said if the school wins the prize money, they plan to get new playground equipment and expand their garden to allow them to donate more fruit and vegetables to their local food bank.
Winners will be chosen by voters across America, who can watch the top videos and vote for their favorite from January 14 through February 14 on www.scottiestreesrock.com.
