This Saturday, hundreds of people will be at The Grandover Resort for Earlier.Org's benefit gala. Their goal is to raise money to find a biological test that will detect breast cancer earlier.

For the past 17 years, they've thrown this event with notable speakers. This year is no different. E! News anchor, reality star, and breast cancer survivor Giuliana Rancic will be the keynote speaker along with her husband Bill.

I had a chance to chat with Giuliana before she comes to the Triad and she told me how important early detection is her. She got a mammogram before she was 40 years old, as a precaution to her IVF treatments, and that is when her cancer was found. She has been very open about her diagnosis and the lessons she has learned.

The biggest takeaway for her is more women need to take control of their bodies. She said, "Eighty percent of women find their own breast cancer, meaning, they find it in a lump under their skin." She urges women to keep doing their monthly self exams because 80% of the time women are finding the cancer not a mammogram or a doctor.

The "Gathering Of Friends Gala Dinner" starts at 5:30 P.M. with a fashion show and dinner will begin at 7:00. Click here for more information on ticket prices and availability.
