Mayodan, NC - Everybody is talking about Sturm Ruger and the jobs the gun manufacturer is bringing to Mayodan, but there's another reason to talk about the Rockingham County community.
It's time for the Mayodan Homecoming and Antique Festival. It's where you can see and buy antiques from the 18th to 20th Century in one place.
Friday on the Good Morning Show, Asa Neal with the town of Mayodan gave viewers a sneak peak of all they can see. One item was a collectible bottle from Winston-Salem Bottling Company. The bottle was likely 25 years old and sold at the festival for $25.
We asked Neal why people come to the event every year.
"It draws people from across North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. People come looking for a specific thing. Maybe to resell it or because they want to collect it," explained Neal.
They Mayodan Homecoming and Antique Festival is Friday, Sept. 6th and Saturday, Sept. 7th at Jake Atkinson Memorial Park. You can find it at 509 Main Street in Mayodan. It's from 8:00am to 6:00pm both days. Admission is $2.00, but children 12 and under get in free.
