Greensboro, NC - He's Greensboro's namesake and was George Washington's most trusted General in the Revolutionary War.  This weekend, you can help celebrate General Nathanael Greene's birthday.

Don Saunders with the Guilford Battleground Company and Nancy Stewart, a member of the Carolina Colonial Dancers joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the big event.

Saunders also explained General Greene's history and some fun facts you probably didn't know about him.  For instance,  General Greene was so close to the first President, he named his son George Washington Greene.  General Greene was born in Rhode Island, was a Quaker and died of a sun stroke at age 44.

You can learn more fun facts and experience colonial life during the Revolutionary War through multiple reenactments on Saturday, August 10th.  The birthday celebration is from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.  You can find it at 2332 New Garden Road in Greensboro, near the statue of General Greene.

The event is free and open to the public, but donations to the Guilford Battleground Company are appreciated.
