Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) is hosting the National Synchronized Swimming Championships beginning Wednesday, adding to the already impressive list of events that the Aquatic Center has hosted.
Many of the nation's top swimmers, including a 2012 Olympian and U.S. National team members, will be competing Wednesday through Sunday.
Even with the championships, there was disappointing news for GAC when they learned that they were eliminated from contention to host the 2016 Olympic Swimming Team Trials.
The list was narrowed Tuesday to Omaha, St. Louis, and San Antonio.
Even with the Trials, the Synchronized Swimming Championship is another example of the success the GAC has had since opening.
The coliseum says GAC has already paid for itself, contributing almost $60 million in economic activity.
