GREENSBORO, NC--The Bermuda high pressure off the North Carolina coast will continue to pump record warm air over most of the East Coast through early Monday. A very slow moving cold front will pass through the Piedmont Monday. The front will likely bring periods of heavy rainfall to the area tonight and scattered shower on Monday. Colder and drier air will build into the area for Christmas Eve. and Christmas Day.
We will see periods of rain overnight into Monday. Isolated thunderstorms may produce periods of heavy rainfall. Rain is also likely on Monday with a high of 62 . Considering the very slow movement of this system, rainfall amounts of 1" to 2" are possible by late Monday.
Colder and drier air will filter into the Piedmont for Tuesday and Wednesday. The high Tuesday will be 43, and 40 on Christmas Day. Overnight lows will be in the low 30's & mid 20's.
