REIDSVILLE, N.C. - The Meals on Wheels program in Rockingham County needs your help this December!
T. Lee Covington, Executive Director of Aging, Disability and Transit Services says that because of recent funding cuts, they had to reduce the number of meals the program is able to deliver.
Covington says at the end of November, the waiting list for Meals on Wheels was nearly 160 seniors.
The program serves homebound seniors who have no other ways of getting daytime meals. Covington says it also gives seniors the comfort of knowing a volunteer will come by during the week to check on them.
Program Director Anne Boyte says a donation of 100 dollars will provide meals for an entire month for one needy senior. Donations of any amount are accepted and can be sent by mail or online on the ADTS website.
If you would like to volunteer to deliver meals, you can contact Kristen Simmons at 336-349-2343.
