WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. -- Police in Wrightsville Beach are calling in additional officers in anticipation of traffic for the annual N.C. Holiday Flotilla.
The StarNews of Wilmington reports the event, which includes a parade and fireworks show, is scheduled for Saturday.
A police spokesman said officers already limit vehicular traffic on the Causeway Drive bridge. This year, they will also monitor traffic on the drawbridge entering town.
The drawbridge, which is under construction, is reduced to two lanes of travel.
To ease traffic problems, officers will intermittently make both travel lanes of the drawbridge exit lanes. Authorities say when and how often eastbound travel is stopped will be determined by the amount of westbound traffic.
The parade starts at 6 p.m. with fireworks immediately following around 7:30 p.m.
