GARYSBURG, N.C. -- Northampton County deputies say family member of a woman intentionally hit by her boyfriend's SUV beat him unconscious after her ran over her.
Investigators told the Daily Herald of Roanoke Rapids that 58-year-old Ray Broady has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury after the incident last week.
Deputies found both Broady and his girlfriend unconscious at a Garysburg home. Authorities say the couple had been arguing for a while when Broady got in a Ford Explorer and ran over the woman.
Deputies say members of the woman's family then beat Broady up. Both are expected to survive.
It wasn't known if Broady had a lawyer.
