GREENSBORO, N.C. -- U.S. Senator Kay Hagan honored a Korean War veteran on Monday with four medals.
Sergeant Bobby Shook served with the U.S. Army 7th Division and Infantry. He fought in the Battle of Triangle Hill, also known as Operation Showdown, in 1952. Hagan's office said the battle is known as the 42 bloodiest days of the war.
Hagan and Lieutenant Colonel Mary Ann Neely presented Shook with the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award and the National Defense Service Medal.
