RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation is apologizing for alerts issued on Wednesday to the Raleigh area warning of "Women drivers, rain, and Obama care."
Another alert warned of "bad drivers according to WRAL-TV.
The NCDOT said an IT contractor performing routine tests on the traffic alerts sent out six erroneous and inappropriate messages over the NCDOT's Traveler Information Management System or TIMS. The NCDOT also said the worker failed to turn off the external feed while testing and for the inappropriate test message content.
The NCDOT has since fired the worker who was only hired less than six months ago. The agency also stated it will take steps to prevent it from happening again.
