WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Police say a woman hit by a car Sunday evening in Winston-Salem is recovering.
The accident happened in the 900 block of Thurmond Street.
Investigators say the woman was unresponsive and lying in the road when they arrived.
According to the police department, a second vehicle drove off the road to avoid rear-ending the car that hit the woman.
EMS took her to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment. Police say her condition is improving.
No other injuries were reported.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
