RALEIGH, N.C. -- A panel charged with giving advice to Gov. Pat McCrory for his expected overhaul proposal for North Carolina's Medicaid system includes a retired hospital executive who worked earlier this year in the governor's administration.

McCrory announced Friday the appointments to the Medicaid Reform Advisory Group created by the legislature. The commission is supposed to hold a public forum to take input and ensure "transparency" in the proposal process. Lawmakers want any plan by March 17.

The chairman is former Moses Cone Health System CEO Dennis Barry, who served as a contract adviser to Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Aldona Wos (vahsh).

Other members are anesthesiologist Dr. Richard Gilbert and Monarch chief executive Peggy Terhune. Also appointed are Rep. Nelson Dollar of Cary and Sen. Louis Pate of Mount Olive.
