WASHINGTON-- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of 22,000 Calphalon XL 9-speed blenders, with an additional 400 recalled in Canada.
The recall was prompted after reports of a fragment of the blender's blade unit breaking off during operation.
According to Consumer Reports, the recall comes three months after they rated this particular Calphalon blender as a "don't buy" product because of the blade-related risk of injury.
The recall involves Calphalon XL 9-speed blenders with model numbers 1832449 and ME600BL. The blenders are sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, JCPenney, Macy's and other major retail stores nationwide and on Calphalon's website.
The company said it has received four reports of blades breaking, but no injuries.
