GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Thursday is a UNCG K-9 police officer's last day on the job.

Aja and her handler, Sergeant David Combs, are retiring. Aja, a female German Shepard, has worked with the UNCG Police Department since Aug. 6, 2007. She has also helped the Greensboro Police Department, Guilford County Sheriff's Office, NC Highway Patrol, NC ALE, as well as the NC A&T State University and High Point police departments.

According to UNCG-PD, Aja helped police seize six pounds of marijuana, 30 grams of crack cocaine, assorted narcotics, $31,945 in cash, drug paraphernalia, five guns and a car. They say she also caught seven suspects.

K-9 Tink is taking Aja's place. The UNCG Police Department has two additional police K-9s, Jax and Stormy.

Police were not immediately able to comment on how long Combs has served the UNCG Police Department.
