WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- They put their lives on the line for our freedom and the very least we can do is roll up our sleeves and donate blood to show our thanks.

Don Adamick and Don Price are both retired Army LTC's who have served two tours in Vietnam.

They joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain Wednesday on the Good Morning Show to talk about the next Military Blood Drive on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

"We still have people in Afghanistan who are fighting the fight. And there are casualties every day. We hear about very few casualties, but for every person killed there's 8 to 10 wounded and it's the one's who are wounded that we're trying to help," said Adamick.

The blood collected will go straight to Afghanistan to help the brave men and women currently serving.

"I think it's important to not forget that we have people who put their lives on the line. The blood that's donated on the 5th of November will be in Fort Bragg that night, processed and then goes out through the system. And the priority is down range as they say or Afghanistan," he added.

The Military Blood Drive is on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  It's at the National Guard Armory on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.

You don't need an appointment, just stop on by.  For more information you can call 336-408-7280.
