SPARTANBURG, S.C. - On the strength of a career-high 381 passing yards in Saturday's 38-14 win over No. 24 Georgia Southern, Appalachian State University quarterback Kameron Bryant (Cary, N.C./Panther Creek) has been named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Bryant's 381 yards is the third-best passing total of the season in the SoCon and came on 27-of-33 passing (81.8 percent) with two touchdowns (matching a career high) and no interceptions. He also ran for two touchdowns and finished with 396 yards of total offense (both career highs). The four touchdowns that he was responsible for were also a career high.

Bryant engineered six-consecutive scoring drives for Appalachian State over a 27:26 span, turning a 7-0 deficit early in the second quarter into a commanding 38-14 lead late in the third.

For the season, the sophomore leads the SoCon in both completion percentage (73.4) and passing efficiency (161.6 rating), marks which rank second and 10th among all NCAA Division I FCS players. Despite only seeing limited playing time in the Mountaineers' first four games of the season, he also ranks among the conference leaders with 1,744 passing yards (third - 218.0 ypg), 1,882 yards of total offense (third - 235.2 ypg) and 10 touchdown passes (fifth). He has completed at least 80 percent of his pass attempts in three of the first four starts of his career.

Bryant is the first Mountaineer this season to be name SoCon Offensive Player of the Week but is the fourth different Appalachian State player to earn one of the conference's weekly individual awards.

Coming off the rout over future Sun Belt rival Georgia Southern, Bryant and the Apps face another stern test on Saturday when they host SoCon-title-contender Chattanooga (6-2, 4-1 SoCon) on Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
