Jesse Jackson Jr. Serving Prison Sentence In Butner, NC

RALEIGH, N.C.-- Monday, former Congressman Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. reported to a federal correctional facility in Butner, NC to begin serving his sentence, according to a news release.

In August, former Illinois congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 30 months in prison for using $750,000 in campaign money for living expenses, clothes and luxury items.

North Carolina's United States Representative GK Butterfield, as well as his Atlanta-based Attorney CK Hoffler from Edmond, Lindsay & Hoffler, LLP were with him when he arrived at the prison.

Attorney CK Hoffler said his office will coordinate visits for those who have expressed an interest in visiting Jackson Jr. Hoffler said the visits may begin as early as November 8, 2013 with the arrival of Jackson's family as well as Pastors Rick Warren and Anthony Miller from California.

Jackson apologized again and expressed sincere regret for causing so much pain and sadness to his family, his constituents and his friends, his attorneys said.
