SUPPLY, N.C.-- Deputies in Brunswick County are investigating a theft of plants from a fly-trap farm.
According to the Wilmington Star News, burglars made off with 10,000 carnivorous plants from a Supply, NC fly-trap business this week.
Investigators told the paper that the the Fly Trap Farm reported it after they opened for business on Thursday. The person or persons got into the building through a broken window and stole $65,000 worth of Venus' flytraps and the flytrap's bug-eating cousin the pitcher plant, the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Emily Flax, said.
Investigators say the theft happened between 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:49 a.m. Thursday.
The sheriff's department is conducting the investigation.
