GREENSBORO, N.C --Police are looking for information to determine what happened at a bus stop on Thursday morning.

In a news release, Police stated they received a 911 around 7:40 a.m. The caller said they saw what appeared to be a possible attempted kidnapping of a young girl by a man in a truck.

A Greensboro police spokesperson told WFMY News 2's Liz Crawford that detectives interviewed the young girl but it's still not completely clear whether an attempted kidnapping actually occurred. They also interviewed the witness who called 911.

Police have been investigating the case for several hours and looked at surveillance from nearby businesses to determine what happened.

An employee at one of the businesses told WFMY News 2 that police looked through his footage which showed what looks like a young girl in a truck behind his building.

Police said they didn't alert the school district right away because there was so little information about what actually happened and they didn't want to alarm people.

People in the neighborhood told WFMY News 2 that they had no idea about the incident.

Police passed along this information:

A witness described seeing a man with dark brown complexion, possibly in his 20s, with no facial hair or visible piercings or tattoos in the vicinity of the bus stop. He was wearing a white shirt.

He departed the area in a beige/tan Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup truck that was missing its center cap from the driver's side front wheel. The vehicle may be a 2006 or 2007 model.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Greensboro Police Department at 336-373-2222.
