Was this her first move on the road to redemption? Is a comeback even possible?
thinner-looking Paula Deen stepped out in public for the first time on
Saturday since her summer scandal (she admitted in June she used the
n-word), and she was greeted warmly. Very warmly.
At the Metro
Cooking & Entertaining show in Houston, the celeb chef, 66, broke
down in tears as she received "thunderous applause during a 10-minute
ovation," reports People.com.

"These are tears of joy, y'all," she said, reports the Houston Chronicle.
The site says about 1,500 fans showed up. "I've said all along that the
one place I'd want to make my first step back out is Texas. Y'all's
hearts are as big as your state."
Deen was joined by sons Bobby
and Jamie for a cooking demo. And although she wiped away tears at the
start, she quickly got back into her usual role, says People. Near the
end of her demo, she walked up to a cameraman, put her face up close to
his camera and said with a giant smile, "I'm back!"
