Greensboro, N.C. -- Haya Ajjan who is an Assistant Professor at Elon University is from Syria. Ajjan moved to North Carolina in 1998 as a teenager who wanted better educational opportunities for herself.
But she has many family and friends who still live in Syria. She says on a daily basis many live in fear for their lives. She says her family now all lives in one house as they've lost many of their own homes. But safety is the only concern her family says they're experiencing a bread shortage and worry other foods could become scare too.
Ajjan now wants others who live in America to find out about the struggles facing those who live in Syria. Ajjan stopped by the WFMY News 2 studio to share her story.
