GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A Greensboro man pleaded guilty to murdering his wife, his pregnant sister and her unborn child in a Guilford County courtroom Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson with the Guilford County District Attorney's Office told WFMY News 2 Guanghui Lei pleaded guilty to three counts of First Degree Murder. In exchange for the plea, the district attorney's office said they will not pursue the death penalty.
Lei's wife and his pregnant sister were found in his home on the 400 block of Coronado Drive in April. The co-workers of Yan Wu, Lei's wife, at UNCG filed a missing person's report saying she had been missing for several days before her body was found.
Law enforcement arrested Lei in Germantown, Tenn. He had his two children with him. The district attorney's office in Guilford County said he confessed to law enforcement in Tennessee about the murders. He was extradited to Guilford County and placed in jail without bond.
Lei will serve three consecutive life sentences without parole.
*Note: WFMY News 2 originally reported that Lei killed his sister-in-law, but she was his sister. The incorrect information has been corrected.
