Winston-Salem, NC -- Police are investigating an auto accident that sent two people to a hospital Saturday.

Officers responded to the intersection of Shattalon Drive and Petree Road just after 11 a.m. in response to the wreck.

Investigators say Deborah Lane, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker, turned left from Petree onto Shattalon and pulled into oncoming traffic. She collided with a 2002 Cadillac Deville, driven by Edith Everest, who was heading north on Shattalon.

Paramedics took both drivers to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment. Lane's injuries are considered life-threatening, while Everest's are not, according to police.

The Special Operations Division, Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the accident.
