St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Allen Craig belted a go-ahead grand slam in
the seventh inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals moved into first place in the
NL Central with an 8-6 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-
game series at Busch Stadium.
Craig went 3-for-4 and Matt Holliday added a three-run homer for the
Cardinals, who won for the eighth time in their last 10 contests. They moved a
half-game ahead of idle Pittsburgh atop the division.
It's the start of a huge stretch for the Cardinals. Including Monday's
contest, St. Louis plays either Cincinnati or the Pirates 13 straight times.
Zack Cozart had three RBI for the Reds, who are 2-7 in the last nine games
against the Cardinals. Todd Frazier added a two-run triple, but Cincinnati
fell 3 1/2 games off the pace in the division.
