Reidsville, NC -- A suspect is in jail after shooting a man in the head and standing off with police Saturday in Rockingham County.

Curtis Wayne Hearn, 48, is charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Deputies say 40-year-old James Troxler came to Hearn's home Friday to buy a trailer from him. After the two negotiated a price, Hearn pulled a gun on Troxler and shot him in the head, according to a news release.

Troxler then walked to a convenience store and got a ride home, where he called for deputies and asked for medical assistance.

Deputies went to Hearn's home to make an arrest, but he wouldn't exit. After five hours of trying to get Hearn to come out of his home, deputies used tear gas and he finally surrendered.

Hearn is being held inthe Rockingham County Jail without bond, and deputies say they expect Troxler to survive.
