High Point, NC - It's an event that brings in $2.3 million to the High Point community and we're not talking about the Furniture Market. The Piedmont Soccer Alliance in High Point is hosting its 28th Furniture City Classic Tournament.
Mary Garcia and Gregg Weigel joined us on the Good Morning Show to talk about the event, which is played on 15 different fields throughout High Point.
"It's the second largest event in High Point, next to the Furniture Market," explained Garcia. "We have over 175 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia that bring over 9,000 players, coaches, officials and spectators to the High Point area," added Weigel.
The tournament is also used as a recruitment tool for collegiate soccer. The age ranges from 8 years to 18 years and it is for both male and female players.
Come on out and support these kids! The tournament is Saturday and Sunday, August 24th and 25th at four different parks in High Point. The home field is Phillips Park on Hedgecock Road. You can find the rest of the fields and the times on the Piedmont Triad Soccer Stars website.
