Thomasville, NC -- Coy hodge has more time to think than he'd like.

"As a person out of work, you respond to it. Yeah, I'll put an ad on my truck if that's what it takes."

Everyday he searches online for work. An ad on Craig's List caught his eye.

"The pay was $300 a week which was too good to be true, but being unemployed, I wanted to go for it. "

The company claimed they would wrap his truck with an ad and pay him weekly for the advertising and they sent him a check.

"It's even got the watermark and security mark on it. It looks tempting."

But the check is for $1900 bucks. Coy was supposed to cash it, keep $300 then wire the rest to the company making the ad wrap.

"We keep getting emails, when are you going to send us our payment."

Coy knows better than to cash the check and wire the money. And he wanted to make sure you did too.

"I think it's messed up someone who really need to work, they don't have the money to live much less pay back $1900."

Anytime a company, a prospective employer, a lottery sends you a check and asks you to wire money, this is a give-away that something isn't right.

This car wrap ad scheme has also been circulating through email. Schemers are soliciting people directly, but the check and wiring money is still the same.
