Kernersville, NC - October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Even though it's August, it's never too early to start talking about cancer awareness, especially when it comes to saving lives.
On Saturday, August 24th you can help women in the Triad who are fighting breast cancer at the Third Annual Pink Ribbon Rally in Kernersville. Thomas Hoth and Dr. Amy-Jo Fischer joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the event.
Dr. Fischer, a four year breast cancer survivor and organizer of the event, talked about their goal. "Thanks to the generosity of the merchants in the surrounding area and over 300 attendees, we raised $33,000," said Dr. Fisher.
The money raised is used to support the Evans-Hopkins Breast Cancer Fund at Kernersville Medical Center. It's named for Dr. Lisa Evans and Dr. Judith Hopkins, two oncologist who treat breast cancer patients in the area. The fund is used to help support breast cancer patients during their treatments.
The Third Annual Pink Ribbon Rally will be held Saturday, August 24th from 6-10pm at The Legacy Conference Center.
Tickets will be sold at the following website: www.pinkribbonrally.org.
