GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Kids want to know all types of things, but this "2 Wants to Know" question is one adults can benefit from as well!

Kennedy asked how tires are made. And those tires need to be in good condition to keep you safe on the road. We turned to Tim McClure and the experts at Taylor's Discount Tire to explain.

McClure said, "What makes up a tire is just a couple of things. You've got rubber and steel. There are steel belts inlaid under the tread and there's a bit piece called the bead. That gives tire more strength to rim. When the tire is made, this part - this width, comes out of a hopper and it's miles long. They cut it to whatever the length the circumference of the tire is going to be and then it's just glued together. They cut it on a 45 degree angle and put it on top of the other and then it's put into a molding process where this part of the tire is molded onto the tread itself."

We also called Goodyear and they shared video to let us see what the process looks like. It's about five minutes long and goes in depth showing you the process.

Remember, if your child has a question, you can ask it and submit it on digtriad.com.
