Meet Slinky, a beautiful smooth reverse brindle puppy ("reverse brindle" is when the darker fur color is more predominant than the orange). He is a mini dachshund weighing just nine pounds. Slinky is very energetic - after all, he is still a puppy! We do not know his exact age, but it is somewhere between 9 months and a year.

Slinky will need a family who can provide an outlet for his boundless energy, whether it is a long jog with his person or a fenced in yard to run and play. He is one of the fastest dachshunds around, so a he'll need a secure fenced yard and a vigilant owner who is dedicated to making sure that he doesn't get out. He does need help with house training, so a patient home is a must for him as well.

Even though he's small, Slinky thinks he is a very big dog. He does not always get along with the other fosters, one in particular, but we have no idea why or how he picks who he likes. The fosters he does not get along with are mixes, so maybe he is a very breed-specific kind of guy.

Slinky does try to bully around other dogs; however, he is submissive with people. His foster Mom thinks he would get along with older children, but not toddlers. With his jumping and running, he might knock down a little human. Slinky will cry in his crate for a little while, and then he is pretty quiet as long as a cat does not cross nearby. We really do not know how he will get along with cats, but we do know he likes to bark at them. He is a love bug who loves to gives kisses. A typical energetic dachshund, he's a great lap dog after he expends his energy (or will be, once he learns to stay still long enough!). All in all, little Slinky would make a great family pet.

Slinky is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. He receives monthly flea treatment and has been dewormed.
