Watson was adopted from animal control by a nice family who was ultimately unable to handle his dachshund behavior. They called on rescue to take him in and work with him on behavior modification.

Watson's foster mom thinks he is a 2 year-old dachshund/miniature pinscher mix. He is clearly a dachshund mix, with longer legs and shorter ear flaps than a full-breed dachshund. He is still a small dog weighing between 12-14 pounds. He is a black and tan smooth boy, and very handsome too! When his foster mom first met Watson, he clearly did not want to be picked up, but she corrected him verbally and he has been a perfect gentleman since. He is a little shy, but with verbal persuasion, he comes wagging his tail. Watson loves to be outside, so a secure fenced yard is a must for this little explorer. Walks would not be enough for Watson since he so enjoys the great outdoors.

Watson is house trained and crate trained. He does well on a leash and likes car rides. Watson needs a home that is familiar with the dachshund or min pin breed. He is a sweet boy, but needs a good leader who will automatically correct bad behavior when first observed. After that he will be a lover boy, sweeter than sugar cookies. Since he has longer legs than a dachshund, he will do fine in a home with stairs. Watson is not a good candidate for a home with children, but surprisingly he is afraid of kitties. So if you have cats who tend to properly slap the new family member, he becomes very respectful of their space.

Watson is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention and is microchipped. He has no known health problems.
