Thomasville, NC-- Two men are in jail and police are crediting a neighbor who saw them possibly in the act of committing a crime.

The neighbor called 911 at 10:11 p.m. on Saturday when they saw some people at a house on Holly Hill Road in Thomasville. The caller said the men were possibly burglarizing the home, police said.

The first officer to arrive on the scene saw two men behind the house. One was taken into custody immediately and the other one ran off. The man arrested on the scene was still in possession of a pry bar and was wearing latex gloves, investigators said.

Police said they found a third suspect hiding in the house when they went inside to investigate. That suspect was found hiding in a basement bathroom, and he was also wearing latex gloves, according to police. The back door of the house, where the suspects were spotted had been forcibly opened.

Police charged Luis Alfredo Barrera, 18, of Winston-Salem, and Luis Angel Rosado, 30, of Thomasville, with Second Degree Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools. Barrera received a $20,000 secured bond and Rosado received a $25,000 secured bond. Both were placed in the Davidson County Jail.

Police are still trying to identify the suspect who ran off.

Not much information was released on the owner of the house, but police did say that the owner was away at the time of the alleged crime.

Detective Brad Saintsing with Thomasville Police said this about why solving the crime was so successful. "These arrests were the culmination of a vigilant citizen who was looking out for a neighbor and the quick response of the officers. This is an example of the citizens being the eyes and ears of law enforcement and reporting suspicious activity that prevented the loss of property."
