Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks have apparently added
another player to their backcourt, signing free agent shooting guard Monta
Ellis, as reported by the Dallas Morning News on Friday.
The paper said Ellis is expected to sign a three-year deal worth $30 million.
Ellis would be the third guard signed by Dallas this offseason after having
inked point guards Jose Calderon and Devin Harris. The team also selected
point man Shane Larkin with its first-round pick in the 2013 draft and signed
Israeli free agent point guard Gal Mekel.
Ellis, who will be 28 when next season begins, is coming off a year that saw
him average 19.2 points and 6.0 assists while connecting on just 41.6 percent
from the field in 82 games with the Milwaukee Bucks. He was traded by the
Golden State Warriors to Milwaukee during the 2012 season in a five-player
Over his career, the volume shooter has averaged 19.4 points and 4.7 assists
over 516 games.
