Rockingham County, NC -- Flood waters crept onto Highway 770 near Eden leading into Virginia.
The NC Department of Transportation closed the highway around 4 am, Monday near Gant Road, East of Eden, leading to the Virginia state line.
The road is now open, and the water is receding. A spokesperson with Rockingham County said the flooding was likely caused by a nearby creek.
Bobby Norris, District Engineer for Rockingham and Caswell Counties, said Highway 770 is lined with barrels to caution drivers to drive safe.
