Police: Greensboro Food Lion Robbed, Employee Hit With Gun

Greensboro, NC -- A Food Lion employee was taken to the hospital after he was hit over the head multiple times with a handgun, according to police.

Officers were called to the grocery store on Golden Gate Drive around 11 pm, Sunday. They said the employee was gathering carts in the parking lot when a man attacked him.

The assailant forced the employee into the store and held several others at gunpoint, according to police. He stole money and left.

Investigators said the robber is a black man, about 5'6" tall. They said he was wearing a dark jacket and pants with blue gloves; both his head and face were covered with a bandanna.

The employee who was attacked in the parking lot was taken to the hospital for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, according to first responders.
