A Blount County, TN-- A Blount County man is making people smile through a special service.
Dr. Randall Ford runs a mobile dental clinic at Green Acres Flea Market in Louisville, TN.
Every Sunday, he provides several services including: exams, X-rays, cleaning, partials, and dentures.
Dr. Ford operates Green Acres Dental out of a trailer, that is approximately 8.5 ft x 35 ft.
It used to be a mobile dental clinic in Florida.
"I think everybody needs to have access to dental care and this is our way to help do that," Dr. Ford said.
James Dishmon of Louisville had an appointment on Sunday for a bad tooth.
"Extremely affordable, at least half off what I would've normally paid if not more. And considering it's on the weekend, when most dentists aren't open, that was a big plus," Dishmon said.
Signs for the business are printed both in English and Spanish.
A large Hispanic population attends and works at Green Acres Flea Market.
"I worked a little bit as a missionary in both Mexico and in Guatemala, short term missions, and I've always had a heart for working with Hispanic folks," Dr. Ford said.
Beatriz Santana finds it hard to make it to the dentist; she plans on scheduling an appointment with Dr. Ford.
"I come almost every weekend over here so it actually helps me out because I don't have to take a trip to a regular dentist," Santana said.
During the week, Dr. Ford works as a dentist at Adult & Family Dentistry in Maryville.
He started the mobile clinic last fall and plans to be open more days in the future.
The clinic opens at Green Acres Flea Market at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.
His trailer is located in front of the main building.
