South Africa - Cyclists endure just about anything in a race from fatigue to dodging other bikers to yes, even antelope. An Austrian cyclist captured his hit with a small antelope all on video while competing in the Cape Epic Race in South Africa.
Robert Mennen, was going about 50-miles-per hour on his bike when out of almost nowhere the animal collided with his mountain bike. It launched him from the bike and snapped his handlebars. He injured his left collarbone sending him to the hospital.
"I was in the medical center and a doctor saw it already, and he says it's good I can move it, I can move it quite well, and he says that is good as with a broken collarbone that wouldn't be the case. But I have a lot of pain in one part of my shoulder, so we want to be sure, so we're going to get it x-rayed and we shall see what it is exactly," said Mennen.
Mennen and his teammate were in fourth place overall. The race will continue through March 24, 2013 and will take cyclists through South Africa's Western Cape.
