Guilford County, NC -- A former youth pastor was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday.
Benjamin Caldwell, 31, pleaded to guilty to six counts of indecent liberties with a child, according to the High Point Enterprise.
Caldwell was arrested in March 2009 after he was accused of statutory rape and taking indecent liberties with a 14-year-old girl. He originally had more than 35 charges against him.
Investigators said Caldwell confessed to the crime shortly after he was arrested. He told police a family member caught him and held him until police arrived.
Caldwell was the youth pastor at Hayworth Wesleyan Church and the Athletic Director of Hayworth Christian School.
The church's pastor originally told WFMY News 2 the teenage girl was not enrolled in their school and was not a member of the church. Assistant District Attorney Walt Jones told The Enterprise she was a student and an athlete.
