Oak Ridge --  For as long as she can remember, Emily Burchell has loved dogs.  She was raised in Eden and her family would take in every stray that showed up at their door.  She grew up- but she didn't grow out of her love for helping animals.

After teaching in the public school system for 22 years, Burchell decided to give up her job to save animals full time.  She goes to shelters and adopts dogs when they are about to be euthanized.  She literally saves their lives.

Then she tries to find families for the dogs.  She enjoys matching families with their dream dog.  If you would like her help, call this number 336-617-5251.  You can also use that number to volunteer to be a foster family.  She is always looking for those and supplies.  Food, toys, dog beds and crates are always welcome.

Here are a few animals currently available for adoption:

  • Squirt:  female, 7 weeks, hound/ lab mix (pictured)
  • Bruno:  male, neutered, fully vetted and micro-chipped, alpha male (needs to be only make in a household), great outdoor dog (pictured)
  • Jody: female, lab mix, black and very sweet, fully vetted

She says she would love to see everyone have their pets spayed or neutered because that is the only way to stop overpopulation.
