Ruger was surrendered to animal control by a family who obviously didn't know what a wonderful little boy they gave up. The shelter called rescue and we were happy to take him to his foster home.
Ruger is a 1-2 year-old smooth black and tan miniature dachshund weighing 11 pounds. We feel he was not bred perfectly since his ear flaps are shorter than they are supposed to be. But the rest of him is all dachshund. He is a very sweet boy and likes to give you kisses. He loves to run and play outside with his foster brothers and sisters. He is still in the process of crate training and house training. We are not yet sure how he will do with kitties. He has such a likable personality that his foster mom thinks he would do well with older kids, but we will be sure before sending him to a family with children. He has puppy energy, but will settle down after a good romp outside. A fenced-in backyard will be a bonus for this little dog who loves the outdoors. He gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters. If someone growls at him because he is too close to their food bowl (we're looking at you, Rascal), he will walk off to look for another bowl. He seems to like everyone he meets and will steal a kiss if you let him.
Ruger is neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention and has been dewormed. He has no known health issues at this time.
