Danville, VA -- A 2-year-old is in serious condition at a Virginia hospital after getting shot in the back Sunday afternoon.
Police responded to a home on Glendale Avenue on a shots-fired call just before 3 p.m. When they made it to the scene, officers learned the 2-year-old had been taken to Danville Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the back.
Paramedics later airlifted the child to Roanoke, VA, for further treatment.
Police say they're in the early stages of their investigation and will release more information as it becomes available.
