Greensboro, NC -- Police issued charges against a Greensboro man after they say he shot his girlfriend early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to the scene at Ardmore Drive where they found the victim, Laverne Minor, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
Initially, Minor told police she had been shot by a suspect in a mid-size SUV that drove away from the scene. After further investigation, police learned that her testimony was false.
Police say Minor had been in an argument with her boyfriend, James Brandon Brown, who later shot her.
Brown, 27, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police say Minor's injuries were not life-threatening.
Officers are still investigating this incident.
