Winston-Salem, NC -- The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a suspicious package found in a Winston-Salem mailbox Monday morning.
Police, fire and HAZMAT officials responded to the home on N. Patterson Ave. around 10:30 a.m. The homeowner said she found a clear liquid sealed in a 1-liter plastic soda bottle and wrapped in a plastic bag.
The package came from a post office in Los Angeles, according to police.
Investigators could not figure out what was in the bottle, so they took it to the police department's firing range to run field tests on the substance.
Police later sent the bottle to the SBI for further testing.
The investigation is ongoing.
