Greensboro, NC -- The Interactive Resource Center doesn't look like much from the outside. But go inside, and the services provided for those struggling with homelessness is extraordinary-- because the services are so very ordinary.
The IRC provides a place where you can take a hot shower, do your laundry, get a haircut, make phone calls, set up voice mail, get our mail, learn computer skills, get a check-up with a nurse. Nearly 200 people a day come to the IRC.
2WTK takes you on a quick tour of the IRC. The day facility operates mostly on grants, but 44% of the funding comes from private donors. That's where you come in!
For $10 you can give someone a day of resources at the IRC. Thursday, October 17th, the IRC is having a fundraiser called the Dignity Event. The fundraising cards detail how you can help, from $25 will provide 5 people with haircuts and $50 will provide for a day of laundry.
If money isn't what you can give, how about time or resources? The IRC needs donations of soap, shampoo, toiletries. If you have hotel take-aways, those are perfect! The IRC could also use: gently used towels, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets.
